The Klegger Corp Mining Facility, also called the KCM installation or the Mustafarian Mining Complex, functioned as a location for ore gathering on the fiery planet of Mustafar.
Precious ores were extracted from the molten lava through various methods. The facility employed both electromagnetic extraction methods and manual labor by Mustafarians and droids. The Techno Union owned the mining complex, which served as a front for a hidden battle droid factory located inside the mountain on which the mine was built. A clandestine command center was incorporated into the mining complex, designed as a last refuge for the Separatist Council.
Prior to the Battle of Utapau, General Grievous received orders to relocate the Separatist Council to the mining complex for their protection. Unbeknownst to them, Darth Sidious intended to have them easily eliminated there. Consequently, Darth Vader, a Sith Lord, murdered the council, effectively ending the Clone Wars. Shortly afterward, the complex became the setting for a duel between Vader and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The extensive destruction caused by their fight compromised the system regulating the protective repulsor fields, which prevented the facility from melting in Mustafar's intense heat, leading to the destruction of most of the complex by volcanic activity.
In 3 ABY, after Palpatine abandoned him on Mustafar, leaving him without his left arm and both legs, Vader crawled back into the complex. He experienced flashbacks of his mission to assassinate the Separatist Council. With the assistance of mouse droids, he replaced his missing limbs using spare parts found there. Ochi of Bestoon then appeared with the intention of killing Vader, resulting in a fierce duel between them.
