Klepa Laeel, a Bothan artist of the male persuasion, lived during the Galactic Civil War era. In the year 1 ABY, Laeel made his home in the city of Mos Espa, located on the Outer Rim planet of Tatooine. It was there that he brought into being two artistic creations: Rainbow Berry Bush and [Raventhorn Plant]. These two paintings were later showcased in the Museum of Tatooine by its curator, Lilas Dinhint.
During the Galactic Civil War era, a period of intense conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, there lived a male Bothan artist named Klepa Laeel. In 1 ABY, Laeel could typically be found near the starport in Mos Espa, a city situated on the planet of Tatooine, which itself lies within the Outer Rim Territories. While residing there, he produced two paintings: one titled Rainbow Berry Bush, depicting a rainbow berry bush, and the other titled Raventhorn Plant, portraying a raventhorn plant. Laeel had a preference for still life paintings of plants, a choice driven by the fact that, as a struggling artist with virtually no credits, wild plants were a free subject. However, he found himself constantly struggling to gather enough resources to afford his painting supplies. Laeel began to fear that he might remain stuck on Tatooine indefinitely.
Simultaneously, in Bestine, the Imperial capital of Tatooine, Lilas Dinhint managed the Museum of Tatooine, the only museum on the entire planet. Dinhint aimed to enrich the museum's offerings by introducing fresh and engaging content for visitors. In pursuit of this goal, the museum identified a select group of artists to whom they would extend the opportunity to display their work in Bestine. Klepa Laeel was among those considered, along with Vanvi Hotne, Giaal Itotr, Kahfr Oladi, Boulo Siesi, and Kolka Zteht. However, for Laeel to have his paintings exhibited in Bestine, he needed to secure enough votes to outshine his fellow artists. Lilas Dinhint organized a Bestine Museum art competition every thirty days, incorporating a fifteen-day voting period during which individuals could cast their votes for their preferred artist.
Throughout his artistic journey, Laeel was approached by various spacers, many of whom supported him by voting for him as their favorite artist. Laeel emerged victorious in the art competitions on multiple occasions, granting him the chance to display his paintings in Bestine's museum for a thirty-day duration. During these exhibitions, the corrupt curator Dinhint offered schematics of the artworks in exchange for a "modest donation" of 48,000 credits. This created an opportunity for architecturally-inclined furniture makers and traders to mass-produce replicas of Laeel's paintings, which could then be purchased, collected, or used for personal display. With his paintings now on display, Laeel hoped that he would finally be able to earn enough money to travel again, and see more of the galaxy.

Klepa Laeel possessed brown hair and blue eyes. He was a modest individual with a strong desire to explore the galaxy, but his limited financial resources hindered him from realizing his aspirations. Nevertheless, his artistic talent, particularly his skill in creating still life paintings, earned him an opportunity to showcase his work in Bestine. With his circumstances taking a turn for the better, Laeel hoped to resume his travels.
Klepa Laeel was featured as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. His inclusion in the game occurred on February 11, 2004 as part of Publish 6 The Imperial Crackdown. This update introduced a new Bestine Museum event, where players had the chance to vote for various NPC artists in order to have one of their paintings displayed in the museum. Klepa Laeel was among these artists, and players who wished to vote for him were required to first engage in conversation with him in Mos Espa. If Laeel received the most votes, one of his paintings, either Rainbow Berry Bush or Raventhorn Plant, would be exhibited for approximately one month, and players could acquire schematics of the paintings during a two week period for a fee of 48,000 credits. The winning artist was determined by player input; however, given that the competitions were held monthly, this article operates under the assumption of 100% game completion, implying that Klepa Laeel won the right to display both of his paintings on at least several occasions.
