Kol Iben was a gaseous planet, a gas giant, found within a star system of the Outer Rim Territories' Arkanis sector. A single moon was known to orbit it, specifically Trask, which was a moon with an estuary. The planet was to be found in the Outer Rim Territories.
The initial reference to Kol Iben occurred in "Chapter 10: The Passenger," an episode from the second season of The Mandalorian, a live-action television show created by Jon Favreau. Peyton Reed directed the episode, which was originally released on November 6, 2020 on the Disney+ streaming service. The planet made its first on-screen appearance in the subsequent episode, "Chapter 11: The Heiress."
