Kor Chokk

The Kor Chokk served as a battleship counterpart for the Yuuzhan Vong.

Characteristics

These grand cruisers rarely maneuvered in combat situations, instead opting to use their sheer size to instill fear in their adversaries. However, this class of warship possessed considerable offensive capabilities, boasting approximately 120 yaret-kors and numerous large dovin basals, which functioned as an interdiction field capable of ensnaring enemy ships.

A Kor Chokk amidst the Yuuzhan Vong fleet

Unlike New Republic and Imperial Remnant ships that underwent repairs and upgrades between engagements, Kor Chokk cruisers originated as smaller vessels and expanded in size with each battle they survived. Components from obsolete ships were integrated into these grand cruisers, reinforcing their structure and mending battle damage.

Moreover, these augmentations ensured the effective utilization of undamaged portions of captured vessels. The practice of incorporating new elements onto the hull after a victory mirrored Yuuzhan Vong societal norms, where Warriors escalated their status through organic implants, signifying their accomplishments.

Consequently, the most formidable and notorious cruisers became colossal, awe-inspiring entities, adorned with protrusions and novel weaponry or defenses. One example, Shedao Shai's Legacy of Torment, bore little resemblance to a conventional spacecraft; its extensive implants had transformed it into a grotesque, mobile weapons platform. The Legacy of Torment was responsible for the destruction of Ithor's ecosystem.

Despite variations in form among individual Kor Chokk grand cruisers, they shared several common attributes. Each featured multiple docking arms, serving as launch platforms for their coralskipper squadrons. These arms constituted the majority of the grand cruiser's structure and occupied a significant portion of the ship's 'cargo space'. Furthermore, the ships were defended by plasma launchers and dovin basals on all sides.

History

They were often compared to the Yuuzhan Vong equivalent of a Super Star Destroyer, despite significant differences in appearance. The comparison stemmed more from their immense power; they functioned more like a mobile space station than a grand cruiser, a designation bestowed upon the Kor Chokk by the New Republic Intelligence Service.

The Legacy of Torment

Despite their fearsome reputation in combat, only a limited number of these cruisers saw action during the Yuuzhan Vong War. The extragalactic invaders possessed only a small number of these vessels, implying that many had either perished during their voyage from their galaxy or were recent additions to their fleet—a fortunate circumstance for the New Republic forces tasked with confronting these colossal, living warships.

Following Shai's demise on Ithor, the Legacy of Torment became the flagship of Deign Lian. Its new commander deployed a deadly bioweapon into Ithor's atmosphere, obliterating its jungles and wildlife within minutes. In a single devastating attack, the Kor Chokk had decimated an entire planet.
