Kyrisa, hailing from Dathomir, was a witch of the Nightsister order and a Human. Following a violent struggle for leadership, her clan cast her out from their ranks.

Kyrisa's origins lie on the planet of Dathomir, where she was a member of the Nightsisters, a clan of Dathomiri Witches. Under the guidance of clan mother Gethzerion, she cultivated an impressive talent for controlling the minds of the native wildlife, especially the massive Dathomiri rancors. Gethzerion recognized Kyrisa's potential. When Namman Cha, a Dark Jedi serving Emperor Palpatine, visited Dathomir, he sensed Kyrisa's unique abilities and decided she could become a valuable asset to the Emperor.
As time passed, Kyrisa grew convinced that Gethzerion lacked the strength to effectively lead the Nightsisters. She believed that under her own leadership, the clan could dominate Dathomir. When she confronted Gethzerion, Kyrisa openly declared her ambitions. However, Gethzerion defeated Kyrisa in their duel, banishing her from the Nightsisters and exiling her off-world in a small starship, fearing her growing power. Her ship ultimately crashed on the isolated Outer Rim planet of Hoth.

Despite the harsh, frozen climate of Hoth, Kyrisa managed to survive by using the local wildlife to learn about the planet. Separated from her home world and clan, she formed a bond with a wampa for both emotional support and physical warmth. Fueled by her rage at being banished, Kyrisa swore to avenge herself against Clan Mother Gethzerion and the Nightsisters. She soon extended her mind control over entire packs of wampas and other native creatures like Hoth hogs. Kyrisa realized that Hoth could be a planet where she could achieve complete dominance. Experiencing a form of rebirth, she embraced the frigid planet as her new home. Eventually, all the wildlife in her area came under her command. She even experimented with genetic engineering, creating unnaturally large beasts, such as the oversized Hoth hog Maraki and the giant wampa named Unkajo.
However, Kyrisa's departure from Dathomir did not escape the attention of other galactic powers. Namman Cha still intended to recruit the Nightsister into the Emperor's service. Learning of her crash landing on Hoth, he embarked on a mission to find her. Blackhole, the leader of the Imperial Security Bureau, also took an interest in the Nightsister. Seeing potential for beast mastery in espionage, he dispatched a small detachment of ISB agents led by captain Jeffren Brek to assist Cha in his search. Cha's involvement also came to the attention of his old adversary, Rachi Sitra, a Jedi Knight aiding the Rebel Alliance. Sitra learned about the danger Kyrisa posed from the Dathomiri Witches of the Singing Mountain Clan and, determined to prevent her from falling into the Empire's hands, traveled to Hoth with the goal of finding her first.

Around the same time, the Alliance to Restore the Republic discovered Hoth and established a small outpost, assessing its suitability for a larger base. Kyrisa began using her pack of minions to wreak havoc on the Alliance forces, stealing supplies to aid her return home and exact her revenge. Simultaneously, the various parties searching for the Nightsister on the planet encountered resistance from Kyrisa's beasts. One Rebel, seeking shelter from an ice storm, stumbled upon a cavern filled with her Hoth hogs and was forced to defend himself, killing all of them, including Kyrisa's beloved Maraki. Sensing his death, Kyrisa rushed to the cave with two Wampas and confronted the Rebel as he was leaving. Ignoring his explanation that he acted in self-defense, she accused him of murdering her "children." She commanded her menagerie to attack, but the well-armed Rebel managed to kill most of the beasts. Seeing the battle turning against her, Kyrisa mounted a hog and fled.
Enraged by the loss of one of her pets, Kyrisa soon discovered another of her creations, the giant wampa Unkajo, slain by a squad of Imperial soldiers. Furious, she unleashed her pets on the Imperials, whom she saw as murderers. However, the trained soldiers managed to fend off the beasts, and one even managed to knock Kyrisa down. Using the Force, she got back to her feet only to see that many more of her pets had been killed and that the battle was lost. The remaining creatures formed a line to cover her retreat, and the Nightsister escaped into the blizzard. However, the Dark Jedi Namman Cha eventually managed to track her down by following her beasts and, after a fierce lightsaber duel, persuaded her to join him.

Kyrisa was a highly skilled Nightsister with complete mastery over Animal friendship. Initially, like other Dathomiri Witches, she only bonded with her rancor, but she eventually developed the ability to exert and maintain control over multiple creatures at once. These creatures remained constantly under her influence, even at great distances, and obeyed her commands, both spoken and mental. Her abilities attracted the attention of Gethzerion and Namman Cha, who saw her as a valuable ally, as well as Augwynne Djo and Rachi Sitra, who viewed her as a significant threat. While on Hoth, Kyrisa not only employed animal friendship but also her skills in genetic engineering, creating creatures far larger than their natural size. She was also one of the many Nightsisters who, despite their tribe's relatively primitive origins, wielded a lightsaber.
Kyrisa was conceived by the development team of the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game as a central character in the story of The Nightsister's Revenge, the sixth expansion for the game. She is an opponent in both the light side and dark side campaign scenarios, and her story is revealed through various cards in the set. She was later incorporated into the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies in December 2010, as part of "Game Update 19".
