Lakbulbup was a Chiss male, and he was related to the rancher known as Lakphro through familial ties as his cousin. He resided on the planet of Naporar alongside his spouse, Dilpram, who worked as a biological scientist. Lakbulbup's place of employment was the Expansionary Defense Fleet headquarters located on Naporar.
Xodlak'phr'ooa, also known as "Lakphro", contacted Lakbulbup, his cousin, with a request. He dispatched a metal brooch to Lakbulbup and his wife Dilpram for them to conduct a metallurgical examination. Lakphro's hope was that Dilpram, being a biological scientist, could facilitate the brooch's delivery to a qualified metallurgist. Lakbulbup later suggested that the brooch should be sent to Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, also known as "Thrawn," due to his well-known ability to analyze alien artwork. Lakphro concurred with this suggestion, and Lakbulbup pledged to send the brooch to a Xodlak warrior who was stationed on Thrawn's ship, the Springhawk, upon its return from its current mission of hunting pirates beyond the Paataatus Hiveborn. Instead of this, he sent the brooch to Lakwurn, a Xodlak hyperspace technician serving aboard the Chiss warship called the Grayshrike. The Grayshrike was commanded by Xodlak Senior Captain Xodlak'in'daro "Lakinda", and it was preparing to meet with the Springhawk for the pirate search operation. The brooch's composition included nyix, a metal of significant rarity and high value within the Chaos. The purpose of the brooch was to instigate a civil conflict within the Chiss Ascendancy.
