The game, created by the same Traveller's Tales team that produced the highly praised LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones series, launched on March 22, 2011, for the Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, and Windows.
Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts, stated, "LucasArts is still raising the standard for family entertainment of the future. With over 20 million units sold globally, the LEGO Star Wars series is a huge success with fans. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars features every character from the wildly successful animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first two seasons, as well as some well-known characters from the beloved theatrical Star Wars Saga. The game has new battle modes that provide players with unique head-to-head combat, as well as an improved level builder that allows them to construct custom bases and in-game battlefields. Players can choose to play as a Jedi or Separatist, each with new character skills such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks, and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, user-friendly hub.
