Leia (The Star Wars)

Leia, at the young age of 14, was the privileged princess of Aquilae, the cherished daughter of its King, Kayos, and Queen, Breha. She also had two brothers by the names of Biggs and Windy.

Leia was getting ready to depart from Aquilae. Biggs and Windy found out about this and told their father, Kayos, who they encouraged to bid her farewell. When the Galactic Empire launches an assault on the planet, a young Jedi-Bendu Padawan named Annikin Starkiller comes to Leia's rescue. Initially, they clash and bicker, but despite this rocky introduction, they eventually develop feelings for each other. Following her father's passing, she ascends to become the new queen of Aquilae.

Behind the scenes

In the rough draft of the script for A New Hope, Leia's age was set at 14, mirroring the age of Queen Amidala in The Phantom Menace, rather than the 19 years old she was portrayed as in the final version of the film.

The third draft of the script for A New Hope introduced Leia as Leia Organa, the princess of the peaceful world called Organa Major. In the subsequent fourth draft, Organa Major's name was changed to Alderaan.

In 1977, George Lucas, while creating supplementary material for licensees, indicated that Leia had multiple brothers and that she was unsure if her parents had survived the destruction of her home planet. However, at that point, no member of the House of Organa had yet made contact with the Rebels.
