Level 2142 was a specific section within the city-planet known as Coruscant. After the Galactic Empire caused the destruction of the world Alderaan, two Alderaanian refugees, Anandra Milon and her younger sibling Santigo, found themselves spending a single night in a Level 2142 alleyway. They were attempting to evade capture by Imperial stormtroopers. Anandra was successful in obtaining some scraps of food from an old man, who was employed at Hangra's Meat Shack, a food stand situated on Level 2142. She acquired this food for both herself and her brother to consume before they continued their journey to Level 1997 to seek assistance.
The initial depiction of Level 2142 occurred in "One Thousand Levels Down," a brief narrative penned by Alexander Freed. This story was included in Star Wars Insider 151 and released in the year 2014.
