Lightning

Lightning, an astromech droid with a masculine programming, operated within the Zero Angle, a drinking establishment situated in the Bright Jewel Oversector's Flight Base under the control of the Galactic Empire. Not long after the Battle of Yavin, he deployed his sonic emitter to halt a physical altercation between Imperial Navy pilots and Imperial Army pilots. Subsequently, the droid delivered an electrical shock to Huck Trompo, the Army pilot identified as the instigator of the disturbance.

Biography

The nickname Lightning was attributed to an astromech droid serving at the Zero Angle, a bar found within the Galactic Empire's Flight Base in the Bright Jewel Oversector. The bartender, Florn, utilized the droid to quell brawls that erupted between Imperial Navy pilots and Imperial Army pilots patronizing the establishment. In the period following the [Battle of Yavin](/article/battle_of_yavin], Florn deployed Lightning to intervene in a particular conflict initiated by Huck Trompo, an Imperial Army pilot affiliated with Nashtah Squadron. As the droid emerged from behind the bar, Tana Chellaine, another member of Nashtah Squadron, noticed its approach and alerted her Squadron leader Sax Hastur, enabling them and other uninvolved pilots to shield their ears. Acting upon Florn's instructions, Lightning activated his sonic emitter for a duration of five seconds, effectively incapacitating those still engaged in the brawl who had not covered their ears. The barkeeper then indicated Trompo, whom Lightning attempted to stun with a prod extending from his front. Trompo remained conscious but voiced his complaint to Florn, who then mandated that the Army and Navy pilots involved in the altercation offer apologies and shake hands. Upon their hesitation, Lightning discharged his stun prod, compelling them to comply by shaking hands and subsequently cleaning the bar. Florn delivered a brief address to the pilots, after which he instructed Lightning to return to his station behind the bar.

Personality and programming

Lightning appeared to derive satisfaction from his role in resolving bar fights, displaying cheerfulness while administering a shock to Trompo. When threatening the other pilots with a potential shock, the droid emitted an electronic chuckle.
