After the FarStar intercepted a transmission originating from Moff Kentor Sarne, the ship sets course for the Episol system with the objective of confronting the Imperial officer. However, upon their arrival at the designated system, they encounter a disabled vessel identified as the Bravado III. The crew of the Bravado III claims they were attacked by a New Republic warship, specifically the Lance of Endor. Eager to avoid escalating the situation and causing an international incident, the FarStar crew decides to surrender and are subsequently escorted to Dayark, the capital city of the Kathol Republic. Before the Kathol Republic Senatorial Council, the crew of the FarStar successfully manages to demonstrate their innocence to the governing body of the Kathol Republic.

However, to reclaim the FarStar, which was seized upon their arrival, the crew comes to the understanding that they require the endorsement of the President, Chandra Hobat. Unfortunately, due to intense political rivalries, she is unable to openly provide support because of a competing Senator, Sho'ban Do. Following a suggestion from Sal Olbeg, certain members of the FarStar crew journey to Pitann to delve into Do's connections to a droid combat ring. While on Pitann, they uncover that Do is covertly orchestrating a coup d'état against the Kathol Republic. He intends to use the droid combat games as a smokescreen to conceal his development of a remote control program. This program would allow him to seize control of all droids throughout the Republic. By persuading his head programmer, Uta T'Cha, to offer evidence exposing Do's scheme, the crew of the FarStar reveals his plot and successfully recovers their starship.
