Longest Night was a celebration among the Twi'lek people. This holiday took place on the planet of Ryloth. It was observed on the day when all three of Ryloth's moons were in their least illuminated phase, resulting in total darkness over the inhabited part of the world. Most people stayed inside during this holiday, preferring a peaceful night with their families. Certain individuals held the belief that the ghosts of those who had died wandered the planet during Longest Night. In 34 ABY, General Leia Organa found herself regrouping with the remaining members of the Resistance at a base located in the distant southern desert area of Ryloth. Yendor Brethen, her old friend from the Rebel Alliance and the head of the Ryloth Defense Authority, assured her that Longest Night would provide a secure window for Resistance ships to arrive quietly, because few Rylothians would be out and about to see them, and he hoped the First Order would be equally unobservant of their movements.
The novel Resistance Reborn, which was published in 2019 and authored by Rebecca Roanhorse, featured Longest Night.
