Lorjan Sakku

Lorjan Sakku was a male Padawan of the Jedi Order, apprenticed to a Cerean Jedi Master many millennia prior to the Cold War. When Lorjan's brother, Lyhesh, succumbed to insanity and posed a threat to the Jedi Order, Lorjan managed to bring him back from the brink, but died in doing so. His Master honored Lorjan's sacrifice by posthumously naming him "Barsen'thor," meaning "Warden of the Order" in her native Cerean language. The Jedi Order subsequently adopted this title, bestowing it upon exceptional members.

Biography

Thousands of years prior to the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, lived a male individual named Lorjan Sakku, who was Force-sensitive and had a brother named Lyhesh, who was also Force-sensitive. Lorjan was eventually discovered and chosen by the Jedi Order to undergo training as a Jedi, becoming a Padawan under the tutelage of a Cerean female Jedi Master. At some point, Lyhesh was the target of an attempted poisoning. Although Lyhesh survived, the incident led to insanity, making him a threat to the Jedi Order.

Lorjan bravely stood against his own brother to protect the Order, successfully redeeming Lyhesh and enabling him to serve the Force once more, but Lorjan lost his life in the endeavor. As recognition for his deeds, Lorjan's Master honored him with the title "Barsen'thor," which translates from her native Cerean language to "Warden of the Order." To commemorate Lorjan's sacrifice, the Jedi Order kept the title and bestowed it upon exceptional Jedi, although only two other individuals had been granted it by the time of the Cold War.

Personality and traits

Lorjan Sakku was a selfless person who risked his own life to prevent his brother from harming the Jedi. He believed in the possibility of his sibling's redemption, and successfully brought Lyhesh back from his poison-induced state of delirium, even though it meant sacrificing his own life. To honor her Padawan, Lorjan's Master gave him the Barsen'thor title, and the Jedi Order adopted the title for future use, bestowing it on Jedi who demonstrated skill and wisdom similar to Lorjan's.

Powers and abilities

Lorjan Sakku possessed Force-sensitivity and held membership within the Jedi Order. However, his training with his Master was cut short by his death while attempting to stop his brother, who had become a menace to the Jedi.

Behind the scenes

Lorjan Sakku was first mentioned, albeit indirectly, in the 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was developed by BioWare. While his name wasn't explicitly stated, the game established that the playable Jedi Consular character was only the third individual in the history of the Jedi Order to hold the Barsen'thor title. In 2012, Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia revealed Sakku's name and gender in an entry that discussed Jedi ceremonial titles.
