Barsen'thor (second)

A Jedi master existed a few millennia prior to the Cold War that occurred between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. This Jedi, displaying remarkable talent and insight, earned the distinguished designation of "Barsen'thor," a Cerean term signifying "Warden of the Order," becoming only the second individual in the Jedi Order's history to do so.

Biography

A Force-sensitive person was discovered by the Jedi Order and underwent training to become a Jedi many millennia before the Cold War, a conflict waged between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. Sometime later, the Jedi Order bestowed upon this individual the title "Barsen'thor," which in the Cerean language means "Warden of the Order," in recognition of their exceptional achievements.

Until that moment, the title had only been granted once before in the Order's history, and that was posthumously to the Padawan Lorjan Sakku, to honor him for sacrificing himself to save his fellow Jedi from his deranged brother Lyhesh.

By bestowing the title to the second Barsen'thor, the Jedi Order recognized that individual as having great wisdom and skill, on par with Sakku. Following the second Barsen'thor's time, the ceremonial title would not be used again for many years, until it was given to a Jedi Consular during the Cold War who prevented the near-eradication of the Jedi Order by the Sith-engineered affliction known as the Dark Plague.

Behind the scenes

The second Barsen'thor received an indirect mention in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released in 2011 and created by BioWare. During the game's narrative, the Jedi Consular, one of the playable character classes, is given the title of Barsen'thor. It is stated that this character is the third individual in the Jedi Order's history to receive the title, with the previous recipient, the second Barsen'thor, having held it thousands of years prior.
