Lost Tribe of the Sith — Spiral #5 represents the fifth installment within the Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith — Spiral narrative arc, penned by John Jackson Miller. Its release occurred on December 12, 2012. The comic's storyline unfolds around 2974 BBY, approximately a year after the occurrences depicted in the ebook titled Pandemonium.
The Leviathans of Lord Dreypa persist in their destructive campaign against the isolated Sith tribe, fruitlessly seeking a concealed, ancient Jedi spacecraft. Preceding Dreypa in reaching the vessel, a Sith rebel finds himself nearing the fulfillment of his ambitions—the tribe's annihilation and the means to access the broader galaxy. A potential change of heart might be in store, however, and Lord Dreypa may have discovered the key!
Parlan Spinner, an exile from the Lost Tribe, embarks on an unauthorized journey aboard the recently discovered Last Hope. This voyage culminates in a flight through the atmosphere above the planet Kesh. Before he can venture into the broader galaxy, Remulus Dreypa, the story's antagonist, establishes communication with Spinner and issues a critical demand. He insists on Spinner relinquishing control of the ship, threatening harm to the Sith princess Takara Hilts, who has developed an unexpected bond and friendship with Spinner. Dreypa proposes a meeting with Spinner at Tahv, the capital city of the Lost Tribe.
Dreypa and his Leviathans arrive at Tahv, unleashing widespread destruction across the city. However, they are intercepted by Spinner, who utilizes the Last Hope's turbolaser cannons to eliminate the majority of the creatures. Dreypa positions the remaining Leviathan atop a towering structure to confront Spinner, with the captive Takara held within one of the monster's appendages. Takara employs Force lightning to slay the Leviathan, successfully freeing herself. She and Dreypa then board Spinner's Last Hope, which he pilots to the shores of the Southern Ocean. Spinner seemingly surrenders the Last Hope to Dreypa, before diving into the ocean alongside Takara.
Upon entering the ship's cockpit, Dreypa discovers that Spinner has programmed the ship's computer for a one-way trajectory into Sessal Spire, a massive volcano situated on the edge of Keshtah Minor. Dreypa and the Last Hope crash into the volcano's crater and are obliterated, effectively denying Kesh any hyperspace-capable vessel and thus preventing any information regarding the Lost Tribe from reaching the wider galaxy. Following Dreypa's demise, the Sith commence the reconstruction of Tahv, and Spinner is celebrated as a hero of the Tribe. Grand Lord Varner Hilts elevates the young man to the position of one of his Hands, and Spinner also cultivates a romantic relationship with his former adversary, Takara.
