Lunatic

The Lunatic was a remarkable example of spur-of-the-moment engineering; a compact, makeshift spacecraft utilized on a solitary mission. This vehicle was instrumental in allowing the fragmented and incapacitated Wraith Squadron to seize control of the CR90 corvette called Night Caller from the forces under the command of Warlord Zsinj.

Characteristics

Kell Tainer, a member of Wraith Squadron and assistant mechanic, along with Chief Engineer Cubber Daine, conceived and constructed the Lunatic rapidly, in just a few hours. Its primary component was the airtight smuggling compartment previously integrated into the squadron's shuttle, the Narra, by its original Imperial owner. For propulsion, four maneuvering jets were affixed to the compartment, positioned on the top, bottom, left, and right sides. An R2 unit, Gadget, was attached to the top to provide sensor data regarding the surrounding environment and the craft's current path. This information was relayed to a datapad, allowing the single occupant to control the vessel's direction.

Voort saBinring, nicknamed "Piggy," a highly intelligent Gamorrean and a member of Wraith Squadron, served as the pilot. He was selected due to his natural insulation, provided by his thick layers of fat, which would enable him to endure the frigid temperatures of space within the improvised craft. Furthermore, he possessed the strength necessary to wield the Lunatic's sole weapon: an X-wing laser cannon. This cannon, salvaged from the damaged fighter piloted by Ton Phanan, was reduced to its essential components to minimize size and weight and connected to a power source.

After being launched from the Narra, Piggy skillfully navigated the Lunatic into the forward cargo bay of the modified Corvette, the Night Caller, using the datapad for guidance. Upon successfully maneuvering the ungainly craft into the hold, Piggy employed the laser cannon both for self-defense during infiltration and to forcefully carve a path to the ship's bridge. He blasted through the floor, ascending into the command deck, simultaneously obliterating the ship's Captain, Zurel Darillian, leaving a gruesome mess on the ceiling. This act terrified the bridge crew into immediate surrender. Subsequently, the Lunatic was disassembled, and the smuggling compartment, after undergoing repairs, was reinstalled in the Wraiths' shuttle, the Narra.

This remarkable, hastily constructed vehicle's one and only journey not only rescued Wraith Squadron but also facilitated their capture of the Corellian corvette, which proved to be an invaluable asset in their campaign against Warlord Zsinj.
