Madhi Vaandt

Madhi Vaandt was a Devaronian female who worked independently as a news reporter following the conclusion of the Second Galactic Civil War. She developed her skills under the tutelage of Tyl Krain, a man she collaborated with throughout her professional life. A caring journalist who frequently broadcasted live from various locations, Vaandt occasionally appeared on The Perre Needmo Newshour, hosted by the Chevin Perre Needmo. Following a particularly impactful broadcast where Vaandt reported on the Galactic Alliance's insufficient support and protection for the inhabitants of the Coruscant underworld, Needmo re-hired Vaandt to cover a continuing segment focusing on the widespread slavery within the galaxy. As a result, Vaandt encountered Freedom Flight, an organization dedicated to ending slavery, but who also intended to use the Devaronian's compassion to further their own hidden objectives.

Vaandt's interactions with the secretive Freedom Flight eventually led her to Vinsoth, where she won the Chev slave Shohta Laar from his master in a drinking contest. Subsequently, she freed Laar and employed him as a member of her production team. Vaandt met with a Freedom Flight representative known as Blink on a moon orbiting Vartos, where she discovered the recent slave uprising on Klatooine, and the imminent revolt on the little-known planet of Blaudu Sextus. Vaandt provided coverage of the slave revolt led by the Octusi on Blaudu Sextus. While reporting on the Mandalorian assault on the Octusi, she was killed by Belok Rhal.

Biography

Rising Star

Early in life, Madhi Vaandt, a young Devaronian female, cultivated an interest in happenings within galactic events. Because of this, she sought to become a HoloNet news reporter. Early on, Vaandt was mentored by a Human male named Tyl Krain, who taught her the complexities involved in ethical journalism.

Legacy

Immediately following the death of Madhi Vaandt, her production assistant, Shohta Lar, assumed her role and continued to report on the events unfolding on Blaudu Sextus, even though he remained under heavy fire from Belok Rhal and his Mandalorian commandos.

Personality and traits

Madhi Vaandt deeply despised slavery and tried to actively expose its presence on remote planets ignored by the Galactic Alliance. Through her interactions with slaves, Vaandt developed a sensitivity to their behavior and could discern subtle acts of defiance in Shohta when he was instructed to provide her with a live HoloNet feed. Vaandt imagined her audience watching her attentively as she reported from various locations across the galaxy. Chief Daala considered Vaandt's appearance captivating. Despite that, she also found Vaandt to be beautiful, and believed that Nek Bwua'tu, even while comatose, shared the same opinion. Madhi Vaandt's voice, a melodious tone enriched with the accent of her people, mesmerized those who heard it. She was charming and conveyed genuine sincerity in her reporting.

Madhi Vaandt held Tyl Krain in high regard and diligently applied his lessons in effective journalism. While she viewed him as a father figure, Vaandt also found Krain to be quite attractive for a Human man. She experienced conflicting emotions about Shohta Laar in the days immediately following their time on Vinsoth. She kept very few secrets from her crew.

Madhi Vaandt was unmistakably Devaronian, and considered a good representative of her species in both appearance and manner of speaking. Her short, white hair appeared tousled, as if she had merely run her fingers through it. Her shapely green eyes were captivating as she gazed intently into the camera. Vaandt's skin was pink and freckled, and makeup only slightly concealed the two dark ovals on her forehead, hidden beneath her white bangs. She wore modest and practical clothing while in the field, concealing what was, upon closer inspection, a slender and petite physique. Her Devaronian physiology gave her a considerable resistance to alcohol.
