The Mallust JTF, a shortened name for the Malastare-Sullust Joint Task Force, functioned as a task force during the High Republic Era. Hedda Casset, a starfighter pilot, dedicated over three decades to this organization, starting as a Z-24 Buzzbug pilot and subsequently rising to the rank of officer in command of one of the Mallust JTF's largest heavy cruiser vessels. Casset ultimately departed from the task force, retiring to pursue a career as a merchant captain of a starship. Primarily, the Mallust JTF engaged in policing operations, combating pirates and similar dangers within their limited region of the Mid Rim. The names of the Outer Rim Territories planet Sullust and the Mid Rim Territories planet Malastare are reflected in the task force's designation.
Charles Soule's novel, Light of the Jedi, released in 2021 as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic initiative, featured a reference to the Mallastare-Sullust Joint Task Force.
