Manaroo was a female Aruzan who, during the time of the Imperial Era, was romantically involved with Dengar, a bounty hunter. Eventually, she fell into debt with Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the Hutt crime lord, who subsequently took her prisoner. Jabba used her as a bargaining chip against Dengar: if Dengar could successfully capture Boba Fett, another bounty hunter, Manaroo would be released. If not, she would become food for Jabba's rancor pet. After she was no longer Jabba's captive, Dengar found himself in trouble within the Vergesso Asteroids, leaving Manaroo in charge of his JumpMaster 5000 ship, known as the Punishing One.
Manaroo used scrambled comms to contact a group of spacers and arranged a rendezvous with them just outside Mos Entha on the planet Tatooine. Shortly after their arrival, she landed the Punishing One nearby and met the group at the starship's hatch, desperately asking them for assistance in rescuing Dengar.
Within the new Star Wars canon, the first mention of Manaroo occurred in the Punishing One Expansion Pack for the Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition miniatures game. Her origins lie in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where Dave Wolverton created her for the short story Payback: The Tale of Dengar (1996), which was included in the Tales of the Bounty Hunters anthology.
