Marauder-class Assault Corvette
The Marauder-class Assault Corvette represented a class of compact and agile corvettes. Originally intended for service within the Republic Navy, these vessels were instead sold to the Corporate Sector Authority. Outfitted with eight light double turbolaser batteries, they also carried a complement of smaller onboard craft. By the time of the Imperial Era, they were commonly found in both legal and illegal operations across the Outer Rim Territories.
Characteristics
General characteristics
Priced at 3,000,000 credits, the Marauder-class Assault Corvette was a warship that, while capable, was somewhat cramped for its crew. It accommodated 177 officers, pilots, and enlisted personnel, a factor that could lead to strain on lengthy missions. The ship also had capacity for 80 troops. It possessed a Class 2 [hyperdrive](/article/hyperdrive] system, lacking a backup, and included a navicomputer, medium-range sensor arrays, and provisions for 3 months of operation.
Armament
This class of corvette was armed with a total of eight light turbolasers, arranged in double-barreled mounts. Four of these were positioned at the fore of the vessel, complemented by three tractor beams. Furthermore, it was equipped to carry a squadron consisting of twelve starfighters along with two shuttles.
Role
The Marauder corvette, effectively a miniature warship, primarily functioned in roles such as rapid escort and patrol. It was known for its considerable maneuverability.
History

Subsequently, the Corporate Sector Authority acquired the production rights. The design proved to be reliable and enduring, and during the Imperial Era, it was utilized by planetary governments, law enforcement organizations, mercenary groups, private security companies, and criminal syndicates operating within the Outer Rim Territories.
