Marhas was a wanted criminal by the Galactic Empire and lived on Lothal, a planet in the Outer Rim. He used credits to pay Yahenna Laxo, who was affiliated with the Gray Syndicate, a minor crime group whose significance was often inflated by Laxo himself. Those who were concealed by Laxo were always in danger of being betrayed if they ran out of money.
As the Galactic Empire increased its control over crime on Lothal, they raided a warehouse and two gambling establishments operated by Laxo. Fearing additional consequences, Laxo instructed Rosey, a member of his organization, to relocate Marhas, along with Apapaba, Durchine, Holshef, and Kinlo, to safer locations. He also instructed Merei Spanjaf, another member of the syndicate, to let each of them know to pack their belongings and prepare for Rosey's arrival that night.
Marhas is briefly mentioned in Servants of the Empire: Imperial Justice, the third book in the Star Wars Rebels: Servants of the Empire series of four books by Jason Fry. The book indicates that he is one of several people hidden by Laxo due to gambling debts or other problems they caused themselves.
