The spouse of Maz Kanata was a male being. Before the year 34 ABY, he entered into marriage with Kanata, presenting her with a stone likeness of herself. This statue was then placed outside of her castle, situated on the planet of Takodana. Despite the union's eventual dissolution, Kanata kept the statue at her castle until it was obliterated during a conflict in 34 ABY. This battle involved the First Order clashing with the Resistance.
The existence of Maz Kanata's husband was initially revealed in Star Wars: Complete Locations. This canon reference material was penned by Jason Fry and released in 2016.
