Metatheran Cartel Tilnes base

During the twilight years of the Galactic Republic, the Metatheran Cartel, a commercial enterprise, maintained a station on the moon known as Tilnes.

Description

This station was established on Tilnes, a satellite of the planet Cularin. It was nestled within a complex of subterranean tunnels. This establishment was comprised of a number of steel-lined caverns utilized for storing merchandise before its distribution. The location also included an elevator providing access to an aircraft shelter situated close to the surface.

History

Around 31 BBY, the Metatheran Cartel established their station on Tilnes. This occurred after they were compelled to retreat from Cularin. While they attempted to keep their presence on the moon hidden, word of the base eventually spread among the inhabitants of Cularin. Subsequently, the Cartel asserted that they had shut down their Tilnes installation. Nevertheless, the Cartel continued to occupy the facility in secret, bribing the Verga Mer Mining Company, a company that extracted resources from tunnels near the station, to disregard their operations.

In the era of the Clone Wars, a Caarite named Ko Bas functioned as the supervisor of the Cartel's Tilnes station. Approximately around 21 BBY, the Believers, a Sith order, schemed to weaken the Metatheran Cartel by deploying a disease lethal to the Caarite race, who formed the majority of the Cartel. The Believers knew from their Cartel contacts that the Tilnes station was still in use. Therefore, the cult chose the site as a suitable location to evaluate the virus, reasoning that because the Cartel had kept their presence at the station a secret, they would not publicly acknowledge any assault on the installation. The Believers spread the contagion throughout the station by detonating an explosive device containing the virus within the base's ventilation system. The entire population of the Cartel facility rapidly became infected and perished from the pathogen, with the exception of Ko Bas and the Caarites G and U. These three were instead transformed into savage, altered beings.

After a period of two weeks following the virus's release, a team of six Believers journeyed to the Cartel station to assess the consequences of their pathogen. Soon after entering the facility, an EMP originating from Tilnes' core struck the base, activating security protocols that sealed the doors and initiated a help signal. The disturbance also caused traces of the virus to escape the base and contaminate the adjacent tunnels. The cult members were soon attacked by the mutated Ko Bas, who killed and consumed four of them, leaving only the Believers Aris and Osia alive. The surviving pair sought refuge in the station's security office, where they encountered G and U and employed the Force to subjugate the two mutated Caarites.

Nevan Khash, an executive of the Verga Mer Mining Company, picked up the distress signal transmitted from the Cartel station. He then contracted the Heroes of Cularin, a group of independent contractors who operated within the Cularin system, to investigate the signal's source. Three hours following the Believers' arrival at the Cartel facility, the freelance agents arrived at the station, where they engaged and defeated Bas. Soon after, the freelance operatives obtained a viable sample of the virus and prepared to depart the station. Seeking to maintain the secrecy of the contagion's existence, Aris and Osia ambushed the freelancers, aided by U and G. The agents successfully repelled their their attackers and left the facility with the viral specimen.
