Mission to Imdaar

The Mission to Imdaar, an operation spearheaded by the Alliance to Restore the Republic, had the objective of seizing a TIE Phantom. The ultimate goal was to formulate a defense against the Galactic Empire's innovative cloaking device technology.

The mission

The Alliance to Restore the Republic devised a scheme to capture a TIE Phantom from the Executor-class Star Dreadnought called Terror. This was all in the hopes of creating a countermeasure to the Galactic Empire's novel cloaking device technology. To carry out this mission, Admiral Gial Ackbar dispatched Rookie One, accompanied by Admiral Krane and Darnell Reggs, to meet with Commander Ru Murleen on Imdaar, the known destination of the Terror.

After their departure from the Alliance Fleet, the three Rebel pilots found themselves battling through a swarm of TIE/IN interceptors while piloting their BTL Y-wing starfighters. This struggle was necessary to reach Ceti 597, from which Rookie One continued the journey alone. After navigating through a protective asteroid belt, he finally arrived at Imdaar. There, Rookie One reunited with his former instructor, Ru Murleen, and after gaining access to an Imperial space platform, they commandeered the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle known as Epsilon Four.

Disguised as Stormtroopers, the two Rebels successfully boarded and infiltrated the Terror, but their disguise was soon discovered. After being questioned by an inquisitive Imperial officer, they fled and were forced to fight their way towards the hangar with the intention of stealing a Phantom ship. Encountering a dead end, they resorted to traversing the sewers, where they were confronted by Stormtroopers and Remotes attempting to impede their progress. Darth Vader, who happened to be aboard the ship, sensed their presence and instructed Admiral Sarn to eliminate them.

However, the two saboteurs resurfaced in the hangar, where an Officer was reprimanding a Stormtrooper guard for sleeping on duty. They hijacked a TIE Phantom and flew through the Dreadnought's internal structures, but the Imperials swiftly closed the hangar doors to prevent their escape. Murleen revised her strategy, piloting the ship through the superstructure in search of an alternative exit, which ultimately led them to the ship's main reactor. Recognizing the opportunity to destroy the Terror and its contingent of TIE Phantoms, Rookie One targeted the reactor's beam focusers, causing a critical failure. The Rebels escaped in their stolen TIE as explosions began to engulf the Super Star Destroyer, which was docked above Imdaar Alpha.

As Murleen charted a course to the rendezvous point, they were attacked by TIE Phantoms. With their escape route blocked, the Rebels were compelled to turn back towards the Terror. Murleen flew their TIE along the surface of the doomed Star Destroyer while Rookie One fended off waves of TIE Phantoms. Despite his valiant efforts, the situation grew increasingly dire until Murleen finally discovered how to activate the cloaking device, concealing them from their pursuers.

Lord Vader survived the destruction of the Terror, but executed Admiral Sarn for his incompetence before departing. All other personnel aboard perished when the vessel exploded, damaging and exposing the cloaked Imdaar Alpha research station below.

Now aware of the Phantoms' origin, and acting without specific orders, Ru Murleen piloted their Phantom into the facility. Reasoning that the Alliance would be defenseless against such a formidable force, the two agents proceeded to wreak havoc within the massive structure. The facility was destroyed when its reactor was compromised by the two infiltrators and reached critical mass. The resulting explosion obliterated all TIE Phantoms within, as well as several Star Destroyers docked with the station. Imdaar Alpha sustained catastrophic damage from the blast, but the two Rebels escaped with their prize.

Aftermath

Darth Vader escaped the destruction in his TIE Advanced x1 only to be reprimanded by Emperor Palpatine for the failure of his invisible fleet. Vader, however, remained undeterred. After depriving the Imperial Navy of its entire complement of TIE Phantoms and securing a prototype for study and reverse engineering, the two saboteurs arrived at their temporary base where Rookie One received congratulations from Admiral Krane. Shortly thereafter, in accordance with Imperial protocol, the TIE Phantom was self-destructed, ensuring that the Alliance would never gain access to its unique technology.
