The Galactic Republic, during the era of the Clone Wars, launched a project aimed at Kudo III because they received information suggesting the presence of a droid manufacturing facility on the planet.
Following the Battle of Corvair in the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic dispatched the starship Resolute to Kudo III. This action was based on intelligence pointing to a droid factory located on the planet's moon. Admiral Wullf Yularen advocated for a strategy involving bombing the plant's reactor. This strategy, while minimizing clone trooper losses, would unfortunately result in significant civilian casualties. However, Jedi General Anakin Skywalker opted to land himself and conduct an investigation.

Skywalker piloted his starfighter down to the factory. He managed to get inside, and he discovered that the Separatists had been enslaving the Kudon. He realized that if the Republic had destroyed the factory, it would have given the Separatists a significant propaganda advantage. Skywalker then liberated the slaves, and they joined him in fighting against the battle droids.
After the mission concluded, Yularen and Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi came to the realization that the factory was a Separatist trap. Had they proceeded with the admiral's plan, the Confederacy would have exploited the deaths of the Kudon for political gain, attempting to sway neutral systems to their side. With their newfound freedom, Skywalker suggested that the Confederacy's enslavement of the Kudon would likely motivate them to align with the Republic.
