A task was executed on the planet Vaced by the Galactic Republic's Breakout Squad unit.
Following a venture into Chiss space and an escape from a black hole occurring in 22 BBY, the Galactic Republic clone trooper team recognized as Breakout Squad made their way back to Coruscant. While traveling, they received a communication from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine instructing them to reroute to Vaced in order to rendezvous with Commissioner Langu Sommilor of Kynachi and provide him with an escort to Coruscant. Separately, Hudu Shiv, a Death Watch marksman, was employed to eliminate Sommilor.
Breakout Squad touched down on Vaced using their vessel, the Hasty Harpy, piloted by Lalo Gunn, prior to Sommilor's arrival. They encountered Sommilor's vehicle, but immediately after he exited, he and his two pilots, who were actually Black Sun deceivers, were slain by Shiv's venomous projectiles.
The Jedi Nuru Kungurama ran in pursuit of the sniper and commandeered a speeder bike from a local gang, which started a chase. Shiv released a thermal detonator, resulting in the deaths of the gang members, except for one—Gizz. Gizz teamed up with Kungurama in the pursuit but was incapacitated. Shiv and Kungurama engaged in combat at Shattered Rock, but Shiv managed to escape. Breakout Squad gave chase in the Hasty Harpy, and became involved in an aerial battle with Shiv's Pursuer-class enforcement ship. Both spacecraft were destroyed, leading to the presumed demise of the assassin.
Lalo Gunn and Breakout Squad separated, and the squad collected the bodies of the Kynachi individuals, commandeered Sommilor's transport, and rescued Gizz from the Vaced authorities. They discovered fabricated evidence, which prompted them to liberate Bilbringi Depot. Shortly thereafter, Breakout Squad located the genuine Sommilor being held captive on his own vessel.
The assignment on Vaced is depicted in Ryder Windham's book The Clone Wars: Secret Missions 3: Duel at Shattered Rock.
