Munch-fungus loaf




A kind of bread originating from the planet of Ryloth was the munch-fungus loaf. This brown bread was eatable by both Twi'leks and Artiodacs, possessing a warm, strong flavor with a subtle spiciness. Munch-fungus mushrooms were the key ingredient in munch-fungus loaves.

Chef Strono Tuggs, an Artiodac, eventually acquired the loaf recipe. In 34 ABY, he decided to include the bread recipe in his cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook. Within the pages of the book, Tuggs highlighted the loaf as a particularly interesting application of munch-fungus, describing it as a singular complement to any dish and a snack that's hard to resist.

Behind the scenes

The Star Wars canon was first introduced to munch-fungus loaf in the 2019 cookbook titled Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, penned by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the bread lists ingredients such as olive oil, fresh mushrooms, garlic, soy sauce, red curry paste, water, honey, instant dry yeast, sugar, yogurt, pepper, salt, and flour.

Within the Star Wars Legends timeline, the food was known as munch-fungus bread. It debuted in Platt's Starport Guide, a sourcebook created for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games, written by Peter M. Schweighofer and released in 1995.
