A relay served as the origin point for every HoloNet communication that occurred on the world of Murkhana. The Confederacy of Independent Systems made use of it throughout the Clone Wars to broadcast Shadowfeeds, which were Separatist propaganda broadcasts, to enemy planets situated along the Perlemian Trade Route. In the war's opening year, Captain Wilhuff Tarkin commanded forces that obliterated it during the Battle of Murkhana, which left the planet devoid of any HoloNet communications. Even eight years later, deep into the reign of the Galactic Empire, the station had still not been rebuilt.
