Nanz worked as a bartender inside Oga's Cantina, a popular establishment located in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Being a human woman, she was of an age that made her senior to Vi Moradi, the Resistance spy. Moradi perceived Nanz as a perpetually grumpy individual who seemed to have lost the ability to smile; thus, she found it unexpected when Zade Kalliday began to flirt with her, and Nanz reciprocated his advances. As Kalliday began to stir up the patrons with his criticisms of the First Order, Nanz cautioned him to cease his actions, revealing that Officer Wulfgar Kath and his contingent of stormtroopers were currently present in the area.
During their initial encounter, Nanz was seen adorned in robes of a faded blue and mustard yellow hue. At a later point, Nanz came into possession of, and subsequently wore, a wig that had been pilfered from Moradi.
