Nella Bold was a young woman residing on Ord Mantell. Her father was Orin Bold, a moisture farmer.
From a young age, Nella and her father lived together on his moisture farm, following the death of her mother at the hands of Savrips. The farm was a struggle for both of them due to the actions of Taxer Sundown, a tyrannical land baron. Sundown aimed to seize their business by deterring customers and hired workers. Nella dedicated her free time to modifying and enhancing her T-24 airspeeder, which her father acquired after a miner abandoned it in the area.
In 37 BBY, Nella encountered Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, two Jedi who were investigating a suspicious freighter from Vena that was transporting Mantellian Savrips. When the Jedi began to investigate Sundown, Nella decided to assist them by flying them to his headquarters located at Ten Mile Plateau. During their journey, they encountered a group of Savrips. Driven by her desire for revenge against these creatures for her mother's murder, Nella attempted to attack them using the airspeeder's integrated heavy blaster. However, the Jedi intervened, causing her to harbor resentment towards them.
Upon arriving in the city, they were immediately noticed. Nella suddenly became very unwell. Shortly after, she fell under the mind control of Sundown's mysterious abilities and led the Jedi into an ambush. In a secluded alley, Sundown revealed himself to the Jedi through a holographic projection. Immediately following this, they were attacked by Sundown's mind-controlled servants, mercenaries wielding lightsabers. While the Jedi were engaged in combat, Sundown's elite team kidnapped Nella and escaped.
Nella was taken to Sundown's remote mountain hideout, located far in the desert. She was held captive while the criminals discussed her fate. Eventually, they decided to execute her in the desert. However, at that moment, Savrips, led by Mawkran - the same Savrips she had previously tried to kill - attacked the base and eliminated Sundown's henchmen. Nella expected to be killed or worse, but to her surprise, the Savrips spared her life. They captured her, but treated her with more respect than the mercenaries had.
Eventually, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn managed to locate the Savrips and rescue her. He also initiated discussions with the Savrips, discovering them to be far more civilized and intelligent than previously believed. Mawkran, who could speak accented Basic, revealed that Sundown was responsible for many of the murders that had plagued the region, including the murder of Nella's mother. He explained that Sundown wanted the Savrips to be hated, and as a result, they had been driven to near extinction. Mawkran's clan was the last remaining, and they were prepared to fight back or die trying. Nella then agreed to assist Qui-Gon and the Savrips in their fight against Sundown.
Consequently, the Savrips launched an attack on his main headquarters at Ten Mile Plateau. Obi-Wan Kenobi killed Sundown himself, while Master Jinn defeated his mistress, the Baroness Omnino. However, a group of moisture farmers, who had witnessed the battle, mistakenly believed that the Savrips had launched a widespread attack on Ord Mantell's Human population, with Nella being held hostage. Approaching the victorious heroes unnoticed, they fatally shot Mawkran, who was standing closest to Nella, in the back. Although the misunderstanding was eventually cleared up, Mawkran could not be revived.
Deeply moved by the Savrips' sacrifice, Nella pledged to dedicate her life to rectifying the injustices committed against them. However, she was unable to prevent their subsequent decline.
