New Holgha

A notable planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories' Ciutric sector, New Holgha was a terrestrial planet. It gained recognition for its Five Holy Cities. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, invaders from outside the galaxy easily conquered it. This was because the New Republic moved New Holgha's defensive forces, as they distrusted Mandalorian information about the impending assault.

Description

Found in the Shirb system within the Outer Rim Territories, New Holgha was a terrestrial planet. It was located in the Ciutric sector of the New Territories and connected to the Shaum Hii and Vinsoth systems via the Celanon Spur hyperlane. Its surface was characterized by tree coverage.

History

In 25 ABY, prior to being attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong (who came from outside the galaxy) three months after the Yuuzhan Vong War began, the New Republic controlled New Holgha. Boba Fett, the Mandalorian leader, provided intelligence to the New Republic, warning that the world would be the Yuuzhan Vong's next target. However, because the Mandalorians were publicly allied with the Yuuzhan Vong, the New Republic deemed the source unreliable. As a result, New Holgha was not evacuated, and its garrison was instead sent to Pedd Four, a New Republic stronghold. Following this, the planet's defense radar was sabotaged overnight, leading to the world's fall without substantial resistance.

As the invaders devastated New Holgha's Five Holy Cities, Fett betrayed the Yuuzhan Vong. He began to provide intelligence regarding the extragalactic invaders to Kubariet, a Jedi Knight whom Fett and his comrades had rescued from a Yuuzhan Vong assault, considering him a more trustworthy source. After the attack, the Shirb system was incorporated into the Yuuzhan Vong empire and remained under their dominion until their defeat in 29 ABY.

Inhabitants

The inhabitants of the planet were called New Holghans. The New Republic had stationed troops on New Holgha, but they were relocated to Pedd Four before the Yuuzhan Vong's conquest.

Locations

New Holgha was famous for its Five Holy Cities. These cities were built around a large marketplace and featured tall structures.

Behind the scenes

New Holgha made its debut in Boba Fett: A Practical Man, a 2006 eBook by Karen Traviss. The reference book The Essential Atlas (2009) placed the Shirb system, and thus New Holgha, in grid square N-5.
