The Night Buzzard was a revamped Oubliette-class transport utilized by the Knights of Ren. To better align with their preferences, the Knights implemented several changes to the Night Buzzard, including altering the vessel's external appearance to reflect their dark side sensibilities. The engines of the ship were also rather clumsily enhanced to produce greater propulsive power; however, this negatively impacted the insulation baffles, resulting in the Buzzard emitting hazardous gas during flight. It boasted substantial armament, featuring a laser cannon turret at the front, a laser cannon turret amidships, a heavy laser cannon turret at the rear, and fixed laser cannons facing backwards. The Knight Kuruk functioned as the pilot for this heavily armed spacecraft.
Initially, the ship differed significantly from its configuration under the control of the Knights of Ren. It was equipped with light anti-personnel weapons intended for suppressing prison disturbances, medical stasis pods for critically dangerous prisoners, and rear holding cells for low-risk prisoners. These areas were replaced with ship-to-ship cannons, an interrogation chamber, and private living spaces. The Knights additionally improved the engine with heat-sink insulator pads to prevent detection. Dark armor enveloped the ship, providing a menacing visual and hindering sensor capabilities.

Originally a dungeon ship located on Osseriton, a penal colony situated in the Unknown Regions, the Knights seized the vessel during a raid on the planet alongside numerous prisoners, transforming it into their mobile base and transport.
The Knights extensively reworked the ship. To begin, they eliminated the front prisoner section and replaced it with a central interrogation facility. The rear prison cells, which were meant for low-security prisoners, were converted into the personal quarters of the Knights. Ren chose to forgo personal quarters, and Kylo Ren continued this practice. The overall armor plating was altered to better suit their aesthetic.
The Knights of Ren employed the Night Buzzard to journey to Pasaana, where they apprehended an unsuspecting Chewbacca. Subsequently, they tracked Resistance members Rey, Poe Dameron, Finn, BB-8, and C-3PO to Kijimi, where they notified their master, Kylo Ren. They were then summoned to Exegol, where the Knights met their demise at the hands of their former leader, now redeemed as Ben Solo.
