Offworld Mining Corporation
Offworld Mining Corporation, a prominent entity in the mining sector, was spearheaded by a coalition including Hutts, Xanatos, the Dark Jedi, and subsequently, Xanatos' heir, Granta Omega. Their operations were concealed behind numerous fronts, such as the Telos-based company UniFy. Their modus operandi frequently involved the ruthless exploitation of planets' resources, driven by insatiable greed and the pursuit of immense wealth. Offworld's significant terrestrial ventures encompassed locations like Telos and Bandomeer, with the corporation wielding considerable influence over ore extraction across numerous worlds in the Outer Rim.
History
Xanatos gained ownership of Offworld by misappropriating the treasury of the planet Telos. Leveraging this illicitly obtained fortune, coupled with his Jedi skills and unethical business practices, Xanatos transformed the company into a colossal mining enterprise. Consequently, Xanatos ascended to become one of the most influential figures in the galaxy.
Due to Xanatos' imprudent investment decisions, Offworld encountered financial instability. In an attempt to bolster his operations, Xanatos resorted to attempting to rob the Jedi Order. This endeavor proved unsuccessful, leading Xanatos to inflict severe ecological and economic devastation upon his home planet, Telos, through extensive strip mining and fraudulent lottery schemes.
Following Xanatos' demise, his son, Granta Omega, inherited control of the company, perpetuating its unscrupulous business practices. After Granta Omega's death, the stock value of the Offworld Mining Corporation experienced a notable upswing, surging from 10,000 credits per share to 15,000 credits per share within a year.
Activities
Roughly twelve years before the Battle of Naboo, Offworld Mining Corporation established dominance over a substantial portion of the ore and mineral extraction activities in the Outer Rim Territories. Employees of Offworld prominently displayed a black, triangular patch featuring a red planet encircled by a silver starship, creating the visual impression of a blood-red eye. Offworld Mining, recognized as one of the galaxy's oldest and wealthiest corporations, demonstrated a ruthless willingness to eliminate any and all competition. While the leadership structure of Offworld remained shrouded in ambiguity, Hutts were frequently employed as operational managers, while Whiphids served as bodyguards and enforcers. The actual mining operations relied heavily on slave labor procured from various regions of the Outer Rim. Offworld's control over the planet Bandomeer was disrupted when Xanatos successfully infiltrated its leadership and seized control following the death of Jemba the Hutt. This maneuver was part of a larger scheme orchestrated by Xanatos to exact revenge upon his former mentor, Qui-Gon Jinn. However, the plan ultimately failed, resulting in the transfer of Bandomeer's control to the Home Planet Party and Arcona Mineral Harvest Corporation.
Behind the scenes
In Jedi Apprentice: The Dark Rival, the logo of Offworld Corporation is depicted as a double ring with the letters O and C conjoined. It's important to note that the Aurebesh alphabet is generally used in the Star Wars Galaxy, rather than the English alphabet. However, the English alphabet is utilized and is known in-universe as the High Galactic alphabet. In Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force, a different logo is presented. A Hutt miner working for the corporation wears a triangular patch depicting a red planet shaped like an eye with a silver ship flying in front of the planet symbolizing the eye's iris. The text Offworld Mining is written beneath the patch.
