OHS3842-03

OHS3842-03, once known as Astigone, existed as a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories and specifically located in the Ash Worlds sector. Approximately around the year 25,100 BBY, Astigone was given the designation of the Eighth Throne belonging to the empire ruled by the Tionese conqueror, Xim. Over the following millennia, knowledge of Astigone's whereabouts faded, becoming a subject of intense scholarly discussion. The xenoarchaeologist Henrietya Antilles eventually managed to rediscover Astigone's true identity through a document uncovered inside the Great Duinarbulon Mausoleum.

Description

OHS3842-03 represented the alphanumeric identification of a thriving planet found inside the OHS3842-03 system, which itself formed a portion of the Ash Worlds sector located within the Slice region of the Outer Rim Territories. Sometime between 25,120 BBY and 25,096 BBY, it was connected via hyperlanes to the systems of Balshebr, Kveror, and Turallun.

History

Astigone functioned as the Eighth Throne within Xim's empire.

Around 25,100 BBY, the empire belonging to the Tionese conqueror Xim expanded into the area that the Tionese referred to as the Kiirium Reaches. This region of space encompassed OHS3842-03, which at that time was known as Astigone and held the distinction of being the Eighth of the Xim Thrones—the worlds that were politically and ceremonially vital to his empire. Astigone's location was eventually documented within a document that ended up being stored in the Great Duinarbulon Mausoleum located on the world Duinarbulon. However, millennia before the reign of the Galactic Empire, the specific knowledge of the location that Astigone's name—and even the Kiirium Reaches—referred to had disappeared. Scholars engaged in extensive debates regarding the matter, and in time, numerous luxury resorts on the Mid Rim world Centares adopted the name Astigone.

The merchant, philosopher, and historian Bleys Harand once authored a travelogue titled Travels Amid Strange Stars, which detailed his journey to the worlds of the Tion Cluster. Within this work, Harand mentioned that the objective of his voyage—to find a contemporary visual representation of Xim—held "less significance" than verifying a theory concerning the coordinates of Astigone. Eventually, Harand's student Henrietya Antilles, a xenoarchaeologist who was active during the Galactic Civil War, rediscovered the Great Duinarbulon Mausoleum, and Astigone's identity was revealed once more thanks to the information contained within the document—known as the "Antilles Map"—that was stored there.

Behind the scenes

OHS3842-03 made its debut through a label on a map created by Modi and featured in the August 18, 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. The book positioned OHS3842-03 within grid square T-7. OHS3842-03, also known as Astigone, was initially described as a planet in the December 7, 2009 StarWars.com Hyperspace article "Xim Week: The History of Xim and the Tion Cluster" by Fry. In one instance, a map included with the article incorrectly identified the planet as the Seventh Throne of Xim's empire.

The intention was for OHS3842-03 to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the section that would have included it was removed before the book was published. The details concerning the planet were later released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Del Rey editor Erich Schoeneweiss featuring various pieces of content that had been cut from The Essential Guide to Warfare.
