Three Orbital Defense Cannons are positioned in orbit around Nod Kartha.
The Orbital Defense Cannon, which is also referred to as the Planetary Defense Gun, Defense Cannon, Orbital Gun, Orbital Cannon, or Planetary Cannon, represented a type of space station equipped with a very formidable anti-ship weapon. Its primary function was to defend against enemy spacecraft. The cannon possessed sufficient power to inflict significant damage upon a Mere cruiser. When strategically positioned on a moon, it could be employed for orbital bombardment operations.
This cannon system comprised four essential elements: a barrel, a capacitor unit, a focusing array, and a protective casing. The presence of all four of these elements allowed for the potential recovery and reconstruction of a cannon, even after its destruction.

The Battle of Nod Kartha saw the use of the Orbital Defense Cannon, where a projectile from one such cannon inflicted substantial damage on the Mere cruiser Kethor. Despite this powerful weaponry, the combined forces of the Mere Resistance and the Lok Revenants, under the leadership of Nym and with the assistance of Jedi Master Adi Gallia, successfully breached Nod Kartha's defensive perimeter. In the aftermath, pirates initiated a salvage operation, recovering enough components to rebuild one of the cannons. However, the Sabaoth Squadron, commanded by Lieutenant Bella aboard the Sabaoth Destroyer Reaver, also sought these components. Despite Bella's efforts, the Lok Revenants managed to transport the components onto the Tritus. Subsequently, they established the cannon on Khons, one of Lok's moons.
Subsequently, the cannon played a role in the Second Battle of Lok, during which Nym utilized it to reclaim his base.
