Ortin, a Corporal, served as a police officer for Gadrin's Office of Peace and Security. Uniquely, he was simultaneously a participant in the Cularin resistance, but unlike most members, he maintained his regular existence instead of living at the resistance's headquarters in the Cloud Mountain mines. When Gerta Haman required external assistance for a mission to penetrate the Metatheran Cartel's operations office, she tasked Ortin with finding and escorting recruits to a clandestine chamber within the OPS third sector precinct house.
Furthermore, Ortin was positioned to provide aid to these individuals, should they be apprehended for unlawfully entering the Cartel's offices, in order to secure their release from incarceration.
