The Paradise Cantina, a disreputable and unkempt bar, could be found on Bador, a satellite of Kuat and one of its two moons. Situated within a questionable district of Bunar, the cantina was visibly marked by numerous past brawls over the years, and was known to attract a frequently dangerous crowd. In the year 40 ABY, the Mandalorian named Jaing Skirata brought an end to the life of the crime boss Cherit at the Paradise Cantina, following an extended shootout. Shortly thereafter, Mand'alor Boba Fett together with Mirta Gev made their way to the cantina, seeking Skirata. Despite an initial altercation with the Paradise's bartender, the pair managed to obtain a clue regarding Skirata's location and promptly departed.
The Paradise Cantina was a dilapidated bar that was located on Bador, a moon orbiting Kuat, which is a Core World. It sat in a rundown section of the city of Bunar. Positioned five kilometers to the south of a sizable public spaceport, the cantina's structure was made of masonry, and it featured several entryways. A sign hung above the bar's entrance, reading "Welcome to the Paradise Cantina," along with a warning that helmets were prohibited inside. By the time the Second Galactic Civil War was happening, the external appearance of the Paradise Cantina had deteriorated considerably, showing signs of damage: blasterfire had created scorched patches in the paint on the doors, the walls displayed numerous indentations from ballistic weapon impacts, and a pool of dried blood was visible near the entrance. Inside, the cantina had tile floors and seating for patrons to enjoy their drinks. The air carried a combination of smells, including stale ale, vomit, and oil. The Paradise Cantina featured a lengthy bar, served by a barkeep, with shelves behind it stocked with liquor and glasses. Complimentary snacks were available in dishes on the bar, with pickles that looked like eyeballs; the establishment required customers to purchase a drink before they could have the bar snacks.
The Paradise Cantina, built in the years leading up to the Second Galactic Civil War, was the site of numerous conflicts during its existence. In 40 ABY, the bounty hunter Mirta Gev traced stolen data to the Paradise Cantina, data she had been hired to recover. Simultaneously, the Mandalorian Jaing Skirata arrived at the Paradise to confront Cherit, the local crime boss, about the trafficking of Twi'lek women to Kuati nobles. Foreseeing potential violence, Gev left before a destructive shootout erupted, resulting in Cherit's death. Local security forces subsequently investigated the cantina.
Weeks later, Gev guided her grandfather, the then-Mand'alor Boba Fett, to the Paradise Cantina in their search for Skirata. Upon entering, they encountered resistance from the Paradise's Kuati bartender, who harbored resentment toward Mandalorians due to the chaos Skirata had previously caused. Although he attempted to grab an illegal, sawn-off Tenloss disruptor rifle from behind the bar, Fett and Gev successfully subdued the bartender and convinced him to share information about Skirata's whereabouts. The bartender directed them to the Tekshar Falls Casino in Kuat City, where the remnants of Cherit's gang were located. Fett and Gev then departed the cantina without further incident.
The Paradise Cantina made its debut in the novel Sacrifice, the fifth installment in the multi-author Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series, penned by Karen Traviss and released on May 29, 2007.
