Payment dispenser

A flat, square device, colored gray, designed to be bolted onto a GNK-series power droid, was known as a payment dispenser. It featured a collection of red, yellow, and white lights on its front surface, along with multiple wires extending from its top. On the upper surface, toward the front, were two punch disc slots, one on each side. Inserting a punch disc partway into one of these slots would trigger the release of credits from the dispenser's bottom.

During 9 BBY, a power droid located at Tibidon Station on the planet Tatooine was outfitted with a payment dispenser. The station's employees used this dispenser to receive their earnings upon the conclusion of each work period, signaled by a whistle that was affixed to the top of the device. After one particular shift, the employee Padu Cherd inserted his disc and found that he had been paid only half of what he was owed. When he pleaded with foreman Groff Ditcher for the remainder of his wages, he was intimidated into remaining quiet. Obi-Wan Kenobi, another worker, glared disapprovingly at Ditcher but ultimately took his own payment from the dispenser without voicing any objection.
