During the Pius Dea Era, Republic Navy officer Pers Pradeux played a critical role in the overthrow of the Pius Dea. He is often hailed as the "father" of both the Republic Navy and, to some degree, the Imperial Navy.
Pradeux entered the Republic Navy when it was heavily influenced by the Pius Dea religion. He ascended to the rank of Admiral. For almost a millennium, the theocrats of the Galactic Republic had utilized the Republic Navy to wage Crusades against alien species residing in the Rim. Around 10,900 BBY, a dissenting ideology, fueled by Jedi and Caamasi operatives, began to spread within the Pius Dea Republic. Pradeux was influenced by Renunciate philosophy and joined the clandestine effort to depose Pius Dea and reinstate the Republic.
Pradeux uncovered the hidden colony of Prefsbelt IV, established by Republic citizens escaping the Pius Dea. He repurposed this world into a clandestine base and sanctuary for fellow Renunciate naval officers as they schemed to overthrow the Pius Dea Faithful.
Following the Battle of Uquine in 10,966 BBY and the subsequent downfall of Pius Dea's authority, Pradeux and his associates convened on Prefsbelt. Their purpose was to strategize the restructuring and revitalization of the Republic Navy.
Pradeux's pivotal role in the Republic Navy's restoration after the Pius Dea's defeat led to his enduring reputation as the "Father of the Navy." Castle Pradeux on Prefsbelt was named in his honor.
After his passing, Pradeux's remains were interred within the Naval Crypt, situated a short distance from Castle Pradeux. A tradition arose where, on the eve of their graduation from the Prefsbelt IV Naval Academy, navy midshipmen would journey from Castle Pradeux to the Crypt, vowing their commitment to service.
