The ring system encircles D'Qar.
A ring system, sometimes called a planetary ring, consisted of a flat, disc-shaped area composed of small objects in orbit around a planet.
The remains of satellites could give rise to planetary rings; for instance, the silica ring of Lah'mu came into existence after one of its moons was destroyed. The rings that surrounded Geonosis and Bothawui were composed of rock, whereas Minfar possessed a ring constructed from ice. Planets could feature numerous ring sets, as seen with a gas giant located in the Unknown Regions. It was also observed that moons could have rings; one of the moons orbiting Brendok had its own ring system.
Even though ring systems presented navigational challenges, some were sources of metal ore through mining operations. The rings belonging to the gas giant Hudalla were among the largest found in the galaxy. The ring around Tiferep Major experienced disruption when the wreckage-prison known as Accresker Jail passed through it.
In a distant galaxy, the extragalactic planet Peridea's planetary ring was a graveyard constructed of purrgil bones.
