Unidentified triple-ringed gas giant

A planet, identified as a gas giant, existed within the uncharted Unknown Regions, characterized by a dense, turbulent atmosphere and distinguished by its three distinct sets of orbital planetary rings. During 19 BBY, a starship designated as an excursion liner belonging to the Boadil family of the Chiss Ascendancy, inadvertently strayed too close to this gas giant. The captain of the starship disregarded the warnings issued by the engineers regarding potential electronic disruptions caused by the planet's intense magnetic fields.

The gravity well of the planet ensnared the liner, prompting a rescue attempt by the Chiss patrol ship Boco. This vessel was under the command of Senior Commander Mitth'raw'nuru, whose core name was "Thrawn." With the aid of the patrol cruiser Parala, led by Senior Captain Irizi'ar'alani (known as "Ziara"), Thrawn successfully reduced the liner's mass by strategically destroying its luxury wings. Subsequently, they employed tractor beams to extract the ship from the grip of the planet's gravity, thereby saving all eight thousand passengers who were on board.

Behind the scenes

This planet made its appearance in flashback sequences within the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, which serves as the initial volume of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.
