Pommel served as the governor of Ryloth under the Galactic Empire during their reign. Following the Free Ryloth Movement's, led by freedom fighter Cham Syndulla, admission of responsibility for the reservoir explosion that obliterated an Imperial hovertrain close to the Kala'uun spaceport, Pommel's condemnation of Syndulla was published in the TriNebulon News. Syndulla had been leading an insurgency against the Empire since its formation following the Clone Wars. The governor asserted that Syndulla and his movement had selfishly and unlawfully asserted control over Ryloth, going against the desires of its populace, and demanded his surrender or face annihilation.
