Hovertrains, sometimes called mag-levs or repulsor trains, functioned as a form of public transportation by floating above the ground. These trains were utilized on worlds like Coruscant and Ryloth. During the insurgency that occurred on Ryloth, Cham Syndulla and the resistance fighters he led attacked a water storage facility, resulting in an Imperial hovertrain being washed away. Governor Pommel of the TriNebulon News later denounced this act. During the time of the New Republic Era, the Pyke Syndicate also employed a hovertrain to move spice across the Tatooine deserts from the spice mines of Kessel; however, Boba Fett assisted a group of Tusken Raiders in taking control of it.
The short story called "One Thousand Levels Down," featured in Star Wars Insider 151, makes reference to hovertrains.
