The Porkins Belly Run represented a fundamental flight tactic instructed to Resistance pilots approximately thirty years following the Battle of Endor. This technique was named to commemorate the esteemed pilot Jek Tono Porkins, who served in the Alliance to Restore the Republic and perished during the Battle of Yavin, an engagement where the Rebellion successfully annihilated the Galactic Empire's first Death Star. This maneuver harnessed a starfighter's repulsorlifts, engines, and sensor systems, coupled with a pilot's instinct, enabling a Resistance pilot to engage an adversary at rapid speeds and a shallow approach angle, thereby complicating the targeting process for opposing emplacements and starfighters against approaching starfighters.
The reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and released in 2015, initially introduced the Porkins Belly Run.
