The Black Laurel for Service to the Empire (Posthumous) represented an honor bestowed by the Imperial Military. It was a decoration presented to individuals who died while serving the interests of the Galactic Empire. A superior officer's recommendation was necessary for the Black Laurel to be awarded.
During the year 0 ABY, the recently established Imperial group known as Inferno Squad executed an infiltration operation targeting the Dreamers. This group was a surviving faction of Saw Gerrera's Partisans, a rebel leader. Seyn Marana, a member of the squad, perished during this mission. Upon hearing about her contributions, Admiral Garrick Versio put forward a proposal for Marana to receive the honor.
The novel Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, authored by Christie Golden in 2017, included a reference to the Posthumous Black Laurel for Service to the Empire.
