Project Shantipole was an initiative conceived by the Mon Calamari engineer of great skill, Quarrie, with the goal of creating a starfighter capable of overcoming a blockade. This project, situated on the planet of Shantipole, primarily resulted in the creation of the "Blade Wing" Prototype B6. Following its triumph in breaching the Imperial blockade of Ibaar during the year 4 BBY, Senator Bail Organa discovered that Slayn & Korpil, a shipbuilding company supportive of the rebellion, was prepared to secretly produce more of this starfighter under Quarrie's guidance. This endeavor ultimately led to the development of the A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter.
In canon, Project Shantipole began much earlier than its Legends version: the Shantipole Project, which was based on an asteroid within the Roche asteroid field.
