Proscribed

The term Proscribed was employed by the Pius Dea to identify those who stood against them, encompassing both political objectors, religious heretics, and those who had abandoned their faith. These individuals became the subjects of Inquisitions orchestrated by the sect that held sway over the Galactic Republic's governmental structure throughout the Pius Dea Era; these Inquisitions took place within the Senate, the military, and broader society. The Proscribed faced banishment or incarceration, and their possessions were confiscated to be sold in religious auctions. Furthermore, their families were prohibited from participating in politics and military service for three generations, which allowed the Pius Dea to dominate the government.

Circa 11,100 BBY, a reduction in the Republic's success in expanding its territory caused the Pius Dea to initiate internal Inquisitions within the Core Worlds and the Colonies. Numerous Proscribed individuals were subjected to trials and executions on a massive scale. These events triggered widespread animosity and dislike of the sect, which, in turn, led to the rise of an opposing group referred to as the Renunciates, supported by the Caamasi, Alsakan, and the Jedi Order. In 10,967 BBY, the Pius Dea Civil War erupted, setting the Renunciates against the Pius Dea Faithful, and it concluded with the Pius Dea's downfall at the Battle of Uquine.
