R2-D2 and C3PO – Trash Compactor Rescue

The episode begins with Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker trapped within Garbage masher 3263827 located on the Death Star, as the walls of the garbage compactor begin to close in. Luke uses his comlink to contact C-3PO. The narrator says that, within a "galaxy of adventures", heroes in peril can depend on their reliable droids.

C-3PO informs a stormtrooper present in the hangar control room that his astromech droid colleague, R2-D2, is experiencing circuit overload due to the current excitement. C-3PO secures permission for himself and R2-D2 to proceed to the maintenance hatch. In the hangar bay, C-3PO notices several stormtroopers guarding the Millennium Falcon and observes the absence of their human companions, leading him to wonder about their whereabouts.

Segments featuring C-3PO and R2-D2 in the hangar are intercut with scenes of Luke, Han, and Leia confined within the garbage compactor. At a control console, R2-D2 prompts C-3PO to utilize the comlink. C-3PO inquires if Luke is still present. Luke instructs him to deactivate the garbage compactor located on the detention level, then restates his instruction.

R2-D2 successfully deactivates the garbage compactor in the nick of time. Luke, Han, and Leia express their elation over the comlink. Initially, C-3PO believes they are dying, but his fears are allayed upon hearing their cheers. C-3PO then pats R2-D2 on his head.
