Viscount Rabael Dir Glorio, also known under the alias Violet Ghost, was a member of the Alderaanian House Glorio. In the year 0 BBY, following the destruction of their homeworld by the Galactic Empire, he became the sole surviving member of his house. He then vowed to exact revenge upon the Imperials, concealing his true identity and beginning his career as a mercenary. Around the time of 1 ABY, he accepted employment with the Son-tuul Pride on the planet Son-tuul, only to be abandoned to die when the group's patrol transport was surrounded by Imperial forces.
Rabael Dir Glorio, a human male from the planet Alderaan, held the title of viscount within House Glorio and stood as the twenty-sixth individual in succession to his homeworld's throne. In 0 BBY, when Alderaan faced destruction at the hands of the Galactic Empire, Glorio was away from the planet, purportedly on a legitimate diplomatic mission to the pleasure domes of Thyron VII, as he would later claim. Glorio opted against aligning himself with the community of surviving Alderaanians brought together by Princess Leia Organa and pilot Evaan Verlaine.
Instead, Glorio, who was then the only surviving member of his house, concealed his identity. He then embarked on a career as a mercenary using the name Violet Ghost, establishing a reputation for his skill with a sword and his unyielding moral principles. Around 1 ABY, the viscount accepted a commission from the Son-tuul Pride criminal syndicate, joining several other mercenaries who had been hired for the job on Son-tuul. The group waited within a patrol transport for their leader, the archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra, to arrive. Upon her arrival, the doctor scanned each of them and recorded notes.
Aphra's superior, 0-0-0, then informed her that she would be forced to leave one member of the mercenary group behind because their combined weight exceeded the starship's capacity for takeoff. As Imperial stormtroopers began to encircle the vehicle, Aphra made her decision and ordered Glorio to disembark and confront them. He successfully defeated the initial wave of stormtroopers and then revealed his true name and his intention to exact vengeance on the Empire. He then requested backup from Aphra as a substantial number of Imperial reinforcements approached. However, Aphra had already departed with the remaining mercenaries aboard the ship, abandoning Glorio to face the Empire's forces alone.

Following the loss of his family and the destruction of his homeworld, he was motivated by a desire for revenge against the Empire. However, he kept his true identity secret, working instead as a mercenary and gaining recognition for his skill with swords.
