In the year 19 BBY, amidst the turmoil of the Clone Wars, a shipment of spice that belonged to the Pyke Syndicate was subjected to a raid by the forces of the Galactic Republic. This occurred upon its arrival at Coruscant, resulting in the confiscation of the illicit substance. Not a single Pyke who was guarding the shipment survived to report back to their organization. This substantial setback deeply troubled Pyke chieftain Marg Krim, as it indicated that he would face the wrath of Maul, who commanded the Shadow Collective to which the Pykes were subordinate. Upon learning of this misfortune, Maul interpreted the demise of Krim's personnel as evidence suggesting the involvement of the Jedi in the operation.
The initial reference to the raid appeared in the episode titled "Together Again," which was the eighth installment of the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Its initial broadcast took place on April 10, 2020.
